Who built it
I'm Paul Nagle, and I built KitchenConvert in Brisbane, Australia.
Why it exists
Recipes are written for someone else's kitchen, in someone else's units. I wanted to paste one in, from any source, and get calories and macros per serve back.
How the nutrition numbers are calculated
The numbers are an estimate built from the recipe's ingredients and quantities, the same way a dietitian would work it out by hand. They are not a lab measurement. Each ingredient's calories are shown, so you can see where an estimate comes from and correct a quantity if the recipe was vague.
For packaged ingredients, the pack label wins.
Measurement standard
A US cup is 240 ml, which is the figure US nutrition labelling (FDA) uses. The metric and Australian cup is 250 ml, and I show it alongside so you can see the difference. Switch between US, UK and metric measures in the app.
